Lars Konarek is one of the leading survival experts in Germany and works as a freelance survival trainer and expert in herbs, including for staff training. The 33-year-old was member of a military special association. After his retirement from active service he called attention to himself by a number of spectacular actions. In the bitterly cold January 2010 he dared an extreme 10 days survival experiment - and passed. Which caused nationwide attention and discussion: 10 days at down to minus 20 degrees centigrade in the great outdoors. He got his food from the wild, slept in the freezing cold outside and drank fluid only in the form of thawed snow. He has survived it.
His life motto: Never give in.
His ambitious dream: eight weeks survival in the wilderness of Canada.
His good luck charm: his little daughter.
Whom he would love to meet: the Dalai Lama.
Currently Lars Konarek is in the process of preparing for an extreme survival experiment in summer 2010. In one single day he wants to stretch himself to the limit and face great physical and dangerous challenges for the second time. The survival expert does not yet reveal what it will be. Only this: Currently, he can be spotted in the forests around Ulm dressed only with hiking boots and underpants.

Update I:
Meanwhile, Lars Konarek has let the cat out of the bag: 112.5 kilometers of walking and eating only from nature. He will even only drink the water he finds in the dry Swabian Alps: in puddles, streams or rivulets. As equipment he has only got his clothing and a waterproof bag for a water bottle, map and a little torch to be able to run his route exactly. His cell phone is only for emergencies and GPS tracking. Start is on Thursday 16th of September at 7 clock at the station Geislingen. Exactly 24 hours later he will be back at the starting point ...

Update II:
Lars Konarek has done it. On the 17th of September 2010 he arrived shortly before 7 clock at the railway station in Geislingen where he had started 24 hours earlier. In between there was a new challenge. 24 hours on the road without food - no food or drink. The survival-expert mastered 120 km in time with only three longer breaks. He drank water from puddles or from the River Blau near Ulm. He hardly had time to search for food. In the evening he had a few nettles. That was all. Which became noticeable in the night. Since the body was missing carbohydrates it didn't get really warm anymore. Lars Konarek caught up on it the morning: hot coffee and a cheese sandwich. Then he took a hot shower ... For this year there are no further survival experiments planned.
